What is the difference between reversible and irreversible changes? Give examples.

Reversible Reaction:

A reaction that can go in both directions β€” the products can change back into the original reactants.
Example: Melting and freezing of ice.

Irreversible Reaction:

A reaction that cannot go backward β€” once the reactants form the products, they cannot change back.
Example: Burning paper.

 

  • Reversible: Can be undone (e.g., melting ice)
  • Irreversible: Cannot be undone (e.g., burning paper)
